How It Works:

The dental implant placement and restoration process

Placement

Once you’ve been approved for treatment, your doctor will schedule your oral surgery appointment and provide a surgical plan. During the surgery, your dentist in Lake Ridge will make an incision in your gum tissue to securely place a dental implant in the jaw. Next, the area will be cleaned and sutures will be placed to begin the healing process.

Healing & Osseointegration

Your gums and jawbone will begin to heal once your implant has been placed. After 1-2 weeks, the incision site will be healed, but it will take 3-6 months for the implant to permanently bond with your jaw bone through a process called osseointegration. DR Sanae Berrada

Dr. Sanae Berrada graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1997. She spent two years in private practice before pursuing specialty training in orthodontics at New York University, where she earned a certificate in 1999. Dr. Berrada then completed a two-year general practice residency at Berkshire Medical Center, a Tufts University teaching hospital. In 2007, Dr. Berrada joined a prominent group practice in Virginia Beach, becoming a leading dentist. With over 20 years of clinical experience, she provides excellent care in orthodontics, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and general dentistry. Her advanced training includes orthodontics at NYU, implant dentistry at Columbia University, and courses from the Seattle Institute for Dental Education. Dr. Berrada is committed to continuing education and stays current on the latest technologies and techniques. She is a member of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, and Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). She is also a Platinum Invisalign provider, and myobrace provider. Dr. Ofeliya A. Kara

Dr. Ofeliya Kara provides dental care for patients in Woodbridge, Virginia at Dr. Robert C. Dost & Associates. Dr. Kara recently began offering dental care at this practice after receiving her Virginia accreditation for licensure. Before that, Dr. Kara worked in a private practice in Moscow and moved to the U.S. in 1999 to provide patients in the states with quality dental care. Her career as a dentist started in 1997 after she earned her degree from the Moscow Medical Stomatological Institute.

Dr. Kara is committed to making sure she can provide her Woodbridge patients with dependable care. In order to do this, she takes continuing education courses in dentistry and participates in dental study clubs. This helps her stay informed on the latest treatments and practices in dentistry. For example she recently completed a two-year residency program, called The Advanced Education in General Dentistry, at NYU Lutheran Dental Medicine in 2016.

Dr. Ibrahim Masoud

Dr. Masoud completed his dental degree in 2014 from Pharos University in Alexandria, Egypt. Following graduation, he attended a one-year general practice internship at the same University in 2015. He later completed a two-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at the St Vincent Charity Medical Center’s dental department, managed by the Cleveland Dental Institute in 2020 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. Masoud is dedicated to high quality dental care for all of his patients. He is a strong believer that patient education and prevention is key to a long lasting, healthy oral condition, and overall health. Through the years he has been extensively exposed to the various aspects of dentistry allowing him to establish and execute comprehensive treatments plans. Having three years’ worth of postdoctoral training in community clinics exposed him to a variety of emergency situations and strengthened his ability to handle them.

After Dr. Blalock suffered a dental injury when a cow’s hoof contacted his teeth, his dentist repaired his smile and sparked a fascination for the art of dentistry. Because of that experience, Dr. Blalock realized his calling was to become a dentist. He loves that dental work gives him the ability to work creatively with his hands while interacting with patients and making a positive impact on their lives.

Dr. Blalock graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tennessee Tech University with an undergraduate degree in health science biology. He went on to graduate with honors from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry

Am I a good candidate for Invisalign?

If you have minor or moderate orthodontic issues, you are likely a good candidate for treatment with Invisalign. So long as your mouth is free of any oral health issues like gum disease or tooth decay, you will probably be eligible to proceed with treatment. However, Invisalign is not for everyone. Severe orthodontic issues may not be able to be addressed with Invisalign. In these cases, we usually recommend treatment with traditional metal or ceramic braces as they can provide more powerful results. Can I use my Invisalign trays as a nightguard?

While Invisalign trays look very similar to night guards and mouthguards, we do not recommend that you use Invisalign as a nightguard. The clear plastic trays are designed to gently shift your teeth, not protect them. If you grind your teeth at night, we may recommend that you get a night guard to protect your teeth and go with traditional braces instead of Invisalign. If you wear your aligners at night and notice that they are becoming cracked or worn down, this may be a sign that you are grinding your teeth at night. This will affect your treatment so be sure to let your doctor know right away if you think you might be grinding your teeth.

How much does Invisalign cost?

The cost of treatment with Invisalign is usually comparable to the cost of traditional braces. Every case is different, though, so it’s important to discuss your budget with your doctor. During your consultation, your doctor will consider multiple factors including your needs, your lifestyle, and your budget before helping you decide which treatment to proceed with.

Can you see Invisalign when you’re wearing them?

Invisalign aligners are nearly impossible to see when wearing them. This is because they are made out of clear plastic and are perfectly fit to your smile. Your trays will be custom-made trimmed to fit to your gum line for a more seamless look. Plus there are no metal brackets or wires, so you can feel confident in your smile throughout treatment. However, if you eat or drink with your aligners in, they could become stained, making them more visible.

How are Invisalign trays made?

These clear aligners are designed onto a mold of your teeth. A lab technician will apply layers of a photo-sensitive liquid resin to this custom mold. Next, the technician will expose this resin to a laser, curing it into a hard, yet flexible, thermoplastic. This plastic is called SmartTrack®, and it was created exclusively for Invisalign treatment. It’s FDA-approved and contains no BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten.
